East Mountain Areas Guide
The East Mountain Area is not only a budding residential community, but also an area steeped in years of history. The region is home to one of the first known human habitations in the New World, the "Sandia Man Caves" on the slopes of the Sandia Mountains. The cave is located just below the Sandia Crest Ski Area, one of the favorite attractions and just another destination in this expanding region. Growth has been steady for these communities and the East Mountain Area as a whole over the past several years, with a number of restaurants and shops accompanying the emerging residential areas. Below is some information of each other the unique communities that comprise the East Mountain Area outside of Albuquerque New Mexico. Cedar Crest AreaCedar Crest, a community within the region known as the East Mountain Area, is one of Bernalillo County’s finest districts. Home to just over a 1,000 residents, Cedar Crest is an exclusive yet welcoming community neighborhood. Cedar Crest is also the home office of William Kurth and associates. Tijeras AreaTijeras is another village of the East Mountain Area and maintains a population of just under 500 residents. Sandia Park Area
Edgewood AreaOnly 20 minutes from Albuquerque, the state’s largest metropolitan area, Edgewood New Mexico is another community included in the East Mountain Area location. Edgewood is located along the longest remaining stretch of historic Route 66 and is home to supermarkets, national drug store chains, several modern service stations, fast-food and full-service restaurants, banks, dental and medical practices and a variety of other shops and businesses.
